We take pride in our animal welfare record and compliance. As with all registered slaughterhouses, we have regular unannounced visits conducted by the government Food Standards Agency and DEFRA animal welfare officers, to ensure we follow the standards set by the UK and the EU.
All our lairage employees hold the relevant licences and certification issued by the government Food Standards Agency, which are animal species and process specific.
Purpose Built, Well-Designed Lairages
Our site has been purpose built and designed with animal welfare at the heart of the business. Our livestock are housed in well-designed and maintained lairages, where they are cared for by our expert, qualified staff. Our pens are spacious, with the number of animals in each monitored carefully and recorded.
The purpose-built lairages are covered by 24-hour CCTV monitoring and recording system to ensure strict animal welfare regulations and procedures are followed.
Compliance & Regulation
Slaughterhouses must adhere to strict standards and procedures to ensure animals are treated appropriately and with care. We take pride in the fact that our processes and facilities are not only compliant and meet with all required regulations, but also set new standards in the welfare of animals. We ensure our production facilities are maintained to the highest standards, ensuring that animals are treated and kept in the most humane way possible.
Designated Welfare Officers & Veterinarians
Before any animal can be slaughtered, it is essential a meticulous inspection is conducted by an Official Veterinarian Officer. They ensure animals are healthy and well cared for. The Veterinarian Officer works alongside our designated Animal Welfare Officers to ensure that the rigorous laws and legislations regarding animal welfare are followed and documented.
